Kim Stacey – Counselling
Kim Stacey is based at Holme Valley Osteopathy on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and offers a counselling service.
“People come to counselling for a variety of reasons. Perhaps you are struggling with issues in day to day life, or life in general. It may be you are experiencing sadness, depression or anxiety. Perhaps you are struggling to find meaning, or feel that something is missing in your life? Perhaps you have had experiences from your past that you find hard to move on from, or traumas that continue to haunt you? Perhaps you are finding relationships with others difficult and questioning what is going wrong?
Working with me will give you the opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings that you may find difficult to express or that you struggle to understand.
I can offer you a relationship which will be safe, confidential and non-judgmental, to explore the difficulties you are dealing with. My role will not be to advise or instruct but to listen and work to understand how life is for you. Together we can explore and perhaps help you find new ways of seeing yourself and of feeling about your past, present and future life.
The therapy I offer is gentle and thoughtful but will also challenge you to understand yourself more clearly, and to consider choices and options change. I am an integrative counsellor, and I have a broad, and thorough, range of training and experience in working with the problems we can all face. I have twelve years experience at both in-depth long term therapeutic work, as well as short term, more solution focused approaches. I work with both individuals and couples.
Coming to counselling for the first time can be daunting, I can meet with you for an initial 30 minutes just to see if working together feels right for us both and to explore more of what you might work on. Sessions are usually once a week for the period of our contract together. A session will last for 50 to 90 minutes depending on the type of therapy we are working with.
For more information on my background and training experience you can see my profile on the website www.counselling-directory.org.uk
I am an accredited therapist with EMDR Europe for a therapy called EMDR. This is an approved NHS therapy for working with trauma, whether a one off incident such as an accident, or more complex trauma issues that may have happened in childhood or later life.
I am an accredited member of the national counselling organisation BACP.”
